6 hair care tips for luscious locks

Each person’s hair is unique - there are endless types, textures, colours, lengths and styles. Hair is an incredibly personal thing that is intrinsically linked to our identity. It is a beacon of self expression. 

However, we can be tough on our hair. From colouring, washing, drying, straightening, curling, and the bevy of unnatural styling products we can guiltily rely on. We then expect to be blessed with luscious and healthy hair that grows at breakneck speed! 

When we aren’t toying with our hair, it is exposed to and at the mercy of the elements. Our hair is often dehydrated and lacking moisture from sun damage, salt water, and don’t even mention the chlorine in swimming pools. 

But on a daily basis we are overwhelmed with information on how to look after our crowning glory, and frankly, it can be a bit of a minefield. Traditionally hair care products have been laden with unidentifiable ingredients that are not only environmentally unsound, they are full of toxins. Toxins that we have been absorbing into our bodies from our scalp. Eek. 

These products, that are full of synthetic ingredients, also mask the true state of your hair, by coating the strands with silicons...silicons that are derived from petroleum by-products...We will just let that sink in...

As we become more conscious of the products we are using, it will come as no surprise that, yes, when it comes to hair care, natural is not only best, it’s superior. 

Our hair care products have been specially crafted to encompass everything you need out of a shampoo and conditioner - with no nasties.   • Natural Shampoo + Conditioner  
  • As discussed above, by washing your hair with a nourishing sulphate free organic shampoo + conditioner, and ditching the petroleum silicons - you won’t know yourself, or your hair!

  • Wide Tooth Comb 
  • Brush your hair with a wide tooth comb or hairbrush starting from the bottom up to gently untangle knots. Also remember to brush dry hair because wet hair is far more susceptible to breaking.  

  • A Balanced Diet 
  • Choosing to eat natural whole foods is a great way to boost hair health. Protein rich eggs contain biotin for hair strength, berries are a great source of vitamins and antioxidants to boost hair growth and spinach is a packed full of beneficial nutrients like iron, folate, Vitamin A and C that helps keep the scalp moisturised and your hair healthy. 

  • Regular Hair Trims 
  • Get trims regularly to maintain hair health by snipping off those split and dry ends. Hair also grows faster in warmer weather (as a bit of a bonus for this time of year). We suggest searching for a sustainable hair salon in your area. 

  • Wear Protection 
  • UV damage can harm hair cuticles and sap your hair of much needed moisture, so wear a hat to protect your skin and your hair from getting burnt. 

  • Head Massages
  • Boost circulation to your head and hair follicles with regular head massages - you can bribe a loved one, or you can let your conditioner work its magic and give those hair follicles some love.
