Deforestation is the leading cause of climate change globally. Reforestation is essential if we want to protect the future of our planet by helping the regeneration efforts for the sake of our environment, and our health.
At Byron Bay Skincare we know that just one tree planted can have an enormous effect on regeneration efforts and the reason why we pledge a commitment, for every bottle sold, we will plant a tree.
Where does our pledge go?
Our recent donations have been pledged to One Tree Planted and their amazing work partnering with countries around the globe who have been affected by the devastating effects of deforestation.
This year our donations have been focused on the Australian bushfire regeneration effort that One Tree Planted has lead.
What is One Tree Planted?
One Tree Planted is a non-profit organisation focussed on global reforestation, making it easier for individuals and businesses to give back to the environment.
One Tree Planted’s ultimate goal is a healthier climate, to protect biodiversity and to aid in reforestation efforts around the globe working with partners in North America, South America, Africa and Asia & Australia. Since its inception in 2014, One Tree Planted has increased the number of trees it has planted by double each year, planting 4 million trees around the globe in 2019.
In Australia
In Australia, One Tree Planted is focussing their efforts on the deforestation caused by this year's horrific bushfires with 6 million hectares of native habitats destroyed, lives lost and unimaginable destruction to communities in every state.
60,000 Trees to Restore Australia's Habitats
The devastating impact of the 2020 bushfires to koala populations and habitats was well documented all over the world, with images of koala’s in distress and being rescued, imprinting in the minds of many.
With koala population and habitats at risk, One Tree Planted has begun a project in the Northern Rivers of New South Wales - home of Byron Bay Skincare, specifically aimed at creating a koala wildlife corridor from Byron Bay towards Tenterfield, north to the Queensland border and south towards Grafton.
In 2020 One Tree Planted has funded 31,728 trees planted with another 27,790 more currently growing in local nurseries, with the aim of the reforestation initiative to plant 250,000 trees by 2025.

A mix of eucalyptus for koalas' favourite foods!

Community Involvement
One Tree Planted has partnered with a local organisation, Bangalow Koalas, to facilitate tree planting events, educational workshops, and continued habitat monitoring and maintenance.

In just one year, one tree has the ability to produce 120 kilograms of oxygen and absorb as much carbon as a car produces driving 41,000 kms.
