Your Pre and Post-Sun Skincare Routine

Hello daylight savings! Bring on the dreamy after-work picnics and swims with the girls. With the longer days comes warmer weather and extra time in nature. We’re sharing the secret to a sun-safe sun-kissed glow.

 

Pre Sun Skincare Routine

Check

Your first step to sun protection is checking the UV rating for your local area. The BOM app has a handy rating that tells you the day's max UV index and recommended sun protection time. Be sure to apply sunscreen, zinc and wear a hat during the recommended max UV time.

 

Cleanse

The essential step in any skincare routine is to remove sweat and excess sebum that has built up overnight. The Gel Cleanser with Tea Tree + Willow Bark is ideal for normal, combination or oily skin, particularly during the warmer months. Protect

Now it’s time to apply your sunscreen. Opt for a broad-spectrum sunscreen, UVA and UVB protection. UVA is what causes the signs of ageing. No, thank you! UVB is that lovely lobster look that leaves you so hot you could fry an egg on your forehead. Maybe a cool party trick, though it probably won’t wow your tinder date.

All the usual rules apply. Wear a hat, lug your umbrella to the beach, and throw on a long-sleeved linen shirt to protect your arms. Don’t forget to top up every 2-3 hours.

 

Nourish

After waiting 2-3 minutes for your sunscreen to absorb, gently massage in your moisturiser. Sunscreen doesn’t add hydration to your skin. Post-Sun Skincare Routine

Hydrate

You know the drill… drink water! For every 22 kg we weigh, we need 1 litre of water. So if we weigh 60kg, then we need a minimum of 2.7 litres of water every day. This includes water from foods such as watermelon, cucumber and tomatoes. It doesn’t include what we lose through sweating up a storm in the sun or exercising our tushes.
