Switch Off for Earth Hour

On Saturday 28th March at 8:30pm AEST, Earth Hour asks all Australians to #switchoff lights in an effort to raise our voices for nature.

What better way to make a statement than right now? In a time where we are socially distancing ourselves, we can unite in our action by participating in Earth Hour together.

Yes, our attention and energy is somewhere else right now, but the impacts of the climate emergency are still being felt across the country and we need to keep the environment on our agenda.

Byron Bay Skincare are switching off. Will you?

So what is Earth Hour?

If you are unfamiliar with Earth Hour, it is an initiative that was created in 2007 by the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), in which hundreds of millions of people around the world in more than 7,000 cities, in over 180 countries take part in an amazing global conservation movement.

All you have to do is register online and then switch off your lights for 60 minutes on March 28th 2020 as a symbolic gesture of solidarity, to show your support and care about our planet’s future.

This year, Earth Hour are asking all Australian’s to #switchoff and raise their voices for nature for the most important Earth Hour yet. 2020 is a critical year for the planet. It’s a year of important global meetings on environmental policy. These meetings are our opportunity to persuade global leaders to make decisions that will benefit our planet’s future, and that we have to protect and restore nature before it’s too late.

You are probably wondering how turning off your lights will be a call to action on climate change, right? Not only is it the easiest movement to get behind, but it is also extremely empowering!

By signing up and switching off, you’ll show key Australian politicians that they must act with urgency to save the one home we all share and ensure the future of our planet is at the top of our agenda (along with the current health & economic crisis obviously!)

For every sign up with Earth Hour, a letter will be sent to 25 key leaders in Australia, outlining the urgent action our federal and state governments need to take if we have any chance at protecting our beautiful natural heritage.

Is there anything more I can do?

Our planet needs our help and the more we do, the greater impact we can have. Here at Byron Bay Skincare, we have taken steps to protect our future by supporting climate change events like Earth Hour and actioning change within our homes, business and local communities.

We are committed to rebuilding and restoring the environment by planting one tree with every product sold online. Our products are 100% naturally derived to reward your skin with naturally healing and environmentally friendly products. We encourage everyone to choose products like ours that do not damage the environment or test on animals. Yep, you can wipe that from your conscious too.

Looking forward, we want to continue to do our part. The World Wide Fund for Nature has called the year 2020 the super year for the environment.  So far we are not sure we’d call 2020 super, but it is pivotal and undoubtedly bringing about significant change. Let’s stay focused on the impact we can make. Earth Hour gives us all an opportunity to do something small that is good for our planet, with our family, in temporary isolation, from our very own homes.

Switch off

So, Saturday 28th March at 8:30pm. Lock it in and register

Remember to #switchoff and support this year’s Earth Hour, because honey there is no planet B.
