4 Ways We Are Focusing On A Sustainable Future

Here at Byron Bay Skincare, we’re focused on more than creating luxurious skincare products.
We are passionate about our Earth, and taking steps forward to protect it. We want to inspire our
generation to adopt socially and environmentally responsible lifestyles. We’re proud of our ethos,
so we wanted to share some ways we are helping move towards a greener future.

1. One Bottle One Tree Program

Deforestation is a leading cause of climate change. If we want to protect the future of our planet
(and our own health) tree planting has to be a part of the plan. We're committed to rebuilding and
restoring the environment by planting one tree with every product sold online.

That’s right - for every bottle of Byron Bay Skincare sold - we plant a tree.

In just a year, one tree has the ability to produce 120 kilograms of oxygen and absorb 1250
kilograms of carbon! Byron Bay Skincare partner with Seed The Change, and are dedicated to
planting trees with rural communities. This helps these communities restore their environments, grow
more food and build a sustainable future.

By planting trees and ensuring that all our products are produced responsibly we allow each and
every customer to make a difference. By choosing Byron Bay Skincare you're giving a little bit
of love back to the planet.

2. Our factory uses solar power!

All of our Byron Bay Skincare products are made in our North Byron Bay factory. Yep, Australian
Made! Plus we a proud to say our factory is run from solar power.

Solar power is the conversion of energy from sunlight into electricity - and is the cleanest and
greenest source of electricity available. Solar energy is a renewable energy (which means
it is replenished naturally by the Earth) - in comparison to nonrenewable energy resources like
coal, nuclear, and oil that are
not naturally replenished, and produce high levels of carbon into
our environment. To be blunt - nonrenewable energy is a serious cause of climate change
and the destruction of our Earth.

The sun offers an ideal energy source - as it has an unlimited supply, does not add to the
earth's total heat burden and does not produce air and water pollutants. And that’s the energy
used to create your Byron Bay Skincare products!

3. 100% Natural Ingredients

We only use naturally-derived ingredients and never use any synthetic ingredients. We
don’t believe in false advertising, so when we say our products are natural and plant derived –
we mean it.

Many brands claim to be ‘natural’, and the term is often thrown around the beauty industry
as little restrictions are put in place. That’s where it can be tricky for you (as a customer), as
the lines can become blurry. So when we say our products are natural, here’s what we mean:

Our natural ingredients are derived from botanical (e.g. plant extracts), mineral (e.g. zinc oxide,
copper), or animal (e.g. beeswax) origin only. These ingredients may or may not be processed in
some slight ways to obtain a desired ingredient or fraction. For example, Coconut Oil can
be processed in a number of different ways to obtain new ingredients such as Coco Betaine or
Sodium Cocoyl Glutamate. Why do we process the Coconut Oil in the first place? Because
it ensures that the efficacy of the product is as good as possible (whilst still being naturally
derived), and means we don’t have to add in any nasty stuff.

Our products are also completely cruelty free – no animal testing – so you can wipe that from
your conscience too!

4. Recyclable packaging

By now we all know how important recycling is for our planet, in order to avoid adding any
more unnecessary items into land fill. Here at Byron Bay Skincare, we are proud to say that
our packaging is recyclable and biodegradable. From our cardboard boxes, and even our
package fillings - which are actually made from corn starch. This biofill breaks down naturally,
reducing your environmental footprint - and is also water soluble - making it easy and safe
to dispose of as it dissolves when saturated with water!
